What is the name of your state? Florida

Just found out husband has outstanding warrant in AL for non payment of a child support order. Will they cross state lines to extradite him or would they only arrest if they have knowledge of him being there in Alabama?

Is there a way to pay off the arrearage and avoid jail time?

These things vary. Today they may not be concerned with coming to get him. Next month, they just might. And its possible that they will extradite if he's contacted for any other reason. He could find that he gets arrested on the warrant while stopped for traffic in FL. Or, they just knock on his door.

Bottom line is, either he makes good on his obligations as required, or he can play the life of a fugitive for the rest of his life and HOPE he doesn't get picked up.

Are there any attorneys who can help with this? In the child support hearing, he was sentenced to jail and the judge put a stay on the sentence provided he kept current. Then as soon as payment was missed, the ex lifted the stay. That's why we are unsure even if we can pay it off if he has to serve the jail time anyway. He doesn't plan on living as a fugitive. We want to take care of this.

Previously, the county where the warrant is would not extradite for a child support contempt, but that was long ago. Any attorney input is appreciated.

IF this is a misdemeanor, it is unlikely he would be extradited. However, he would still have to deal with getting harrassed or arrested for the outstanding warrant during a routine traffic stop.
