Felony attempt to do serious bodily harm

We live in Texas and my 20 year old son is in jail charged with injury to a child with intent to do serious bodily harm. he says it was an accident the police claim otherwise. I was told it is a felony offense.what are the possible outcomes if found guilty?Thanks in advance for your help!

Jail and/or fine and/or probation.
