What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?IL
Is there a fee for filing an appeal of a lower courts decision?
Does anyone know what this fee would be in the socialist republic of Illinois?:D

Are you considering doing this pro se? If you are serious about this, send me a pm, or bump this thread, and I'll dig up some info for you. Not to discourage you, but it is a lot of work.

I don't remember paying a filing fee, I could be wrong though, it's been a long time.

What I do remember is the time investment(a lot), and the printing expense(a lot).

I'm looking for legal aid to help in my dispute with my village. I'm hoping I won't have to do it pro se but I'm planning for worst case scenario just in case the lower court rules against me. You can read my rant in the illegal apartment inspections thread

Legal aid, I cannot give you. What I can do is share some knowledge gained by personal experience.

I have read the thread already. Was something seized in this inspection? Is this a criminal appeal?

I was just making the statement that I was searching for legal aid i.e. the IL Bar assoc, Cook County Bar. I wasn't asking you for legal aid. :) No nothing has been seized. I won't permit entry into my apartment without a valid warrant. Technically speaking yes this is a criminal matter because I'm willfully violating the ordinance and can face fines & jail time. Yeah it sounds ridiculous that someone can face jail time for violating a town ordinance that is in direct conflict with the Constitution.

What were you charged with?

Have you already been convicted?
