Firearms

What is the name of your state? CA
I'm a gun owner.... Sentenced with misdemeanor charge and three years informal probation.

Wanted to know:
Is one able to lawfully purchase firearms while still serving the three informal probation sentence? Or must I wait for the completion of the sentence?

And is there a prohibition against firearms due to the charge?

A misdemeanor by itself won't prevent you from purchasing or possessing a firearm ... though certain ones might (like, DV).
