What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Fl
Hi, I have a friend who was charged with a crime in Kansas (unsure of exact crime, has something to do with child support) but did not serve out his full time because he fled to FL. He has been paying his child support for 2 yrs now, but was arrested recently for being a fugitive from justice. Currently he is being held in FL but they are extraditing him to KS. Will his punishment be to serve out the rest of his time or could he be facing extra charges/time now? Basically he wants to know if he should hire a lawyer or just stay with the public defender they'll put on his case.

Likely, he will spend a few weeks in jail and KS won't pick him up. This scenario will continue to repeat, until he deals with the warrant. It usually works out well, because the fugitive is held long enough to lose their job and possibly their home.

Yes, as losing one's job will normally be helpful in a child support matter.
