help!!!!1/10 of college cited!!!!!!What is the name of your state? P.A. Recently, a frat party at my college was raided by local police resulting in 1/10 of the student body receiving citations. Many of us are concerned over how legal the procedure was. They took down the information for all who were in attendance. Some were given the horizontal gaze test; this seemed ineffective as people who did not consume any alcoholic beverages failed. Personally, I had just arrived when I was instructed to leave; at the door were 3 officers, they asked for my school i.d., they opened the college's names and number book (making it obviously look like our school took part in the raid), marked my name down, asked for my birthday, and I walked out. At no point was I asked if I had been drinking or given a test. Our administation sent out e-mails to us first informing us that those who had alcohol on their breath and failed a test would be recieving citations, a later email informed us this was not the case, and that we would all be receiving citations. My citation claims that I had alcohol on my breath and as I am underage will be recieving a fine close to $500. Does this seem like enough proof to convict so many of us? And what is the right approach to take when pleading not guilty in court? Advise is greatly appreciated since many of us are in this position. |

| Well, you plead not guilty and make them prove you had been drinking. Bottom line is that if you are underage, don't go near parties where there is alcohol. Since universities and fraternities are famous for this sort of thing, it's really a no-brainer to figure that a large party will attract the attention of the cops. And considering the liability that the colleges face for student deaths and accidents, it's no surprise that the colleges and the local police are cracking down. - Carl
