Help, Bad Check Question

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NC

Back in April, I had written a check to someone with the agreement that the check would be held for a couple of weeks while I was awaiting another payment to come in to me, and that I would let them know when I had the funds in the account for the check to clear. Shortly after, but before I had received my funds, I had an accident which hospitalized me requiring two major surgeries so far and I possibly have two more to go. I am at home now recovering, but still on large doses of medication.

Needless to say, I never did get the funds I was to receive, so I was not able to make the check good. He deposited the check when I assume he could not contact me and it bounced and was turned over to the bad checks department who sent us a letter. We explained what had happened and tried to send a partial payment but it was returned, and because I could not make the full payment last week, a warrant has been issued. We talked to the judge this morning and he advised trying to make arrangements with the county sherriff to not pick me up until I was released from the doctor, but since the warrant was already issued, that he couldn't do anything.

We are trying to make arrangements to come up with the money so I can pay this check as quickly as possible. I owe the money and I will pay it, no question about that. But, will they try to come arrest me at home or will they just wait to pick me up elsewhere? Do I have to open the door if they come knocking as most of the time, I am still in bed recovering from surgery. If they do arrest me, I don't have the money to bail out and will be stuck.

I am trying to do the right thing by coming up with the money and paying it, I just can't do it from jail though. Please give me some thoughts on what is going to happen here please.
