What is the name of your state? MI

Father died recently in Hawaii, there is supposedly a bench warrant for him in Michigan for back child support. Will money from his estate go to that if he doesn't have a will? Or even if he does have one? There might even be a warrant for him in Hawaii too, we are not sure.

There are two grown children whom are dealing with his death, yet the two ex-wives want there back child support. I told the kids to get a lawyer and they are affraid that then everything will go to the ex-wives.

What do you think they should do?

Thanks for your time.

If the states involved do not have an SOL on CS or it has not run out then the ex-wives have the right to file against the estate for the debts owed to them regardless of a will or not.

Sorry to sound stupid but what is a SOL or CS? And is there anyway to see if it has run out?

Thanks again for your time.

SOL= statute of limitations
CS= child support

Use google to find the SOL in the states involved.
