What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? TENNESSEE

Good morning folks,
Posting this on behalf a friend who ran into some legal issues last night...
At around 10pm, he answered a knock at the door to find officers from the METRO Nashville Crime Suppression Unit.

He gave them consent to search the premises, during which they found:
~ 4g of marijuana
~ 2g of cocaine
~ 40 various prescription pills
~ $1700 in cash

The items were taken my members of the police department, but he was NOT arrested. He was given a business card and told to "call tomorrow at 1pm or else".

Now he's freaking out because he doesn't know if he should make the call without legal representation.

Advice please?

Why would he call at all?

He needs a lawyer.

They are not going to give his drugs and drug money back.

It was obviously a bad idea to let them search.

It sounds like they are giving your friend options he
forgot to mention, become an informant or get charged.

A warrant is not required if a person living there gives consent.

"Or else" means nothing. They want him to come and give them additional information they can use against him and others.

When the cops say "it will go easier if you cooperate" they're talking about themselves.

The person should obtain an lawyer and not speak to the police further in any manner without one present.
