how do we get someone with a warrant arrested?

What is the name of your state? IL

a former friend has done some illegal things and her sister and i are trying to get her arrested (see the forum thread attached for part of the story). http://forum.freeadvice.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=125368

her sister was told by the cop involved that the former friend does have a warrant out for her arrest for the crime she committed and that if she is arrested anywhere in illinois she will be held until she can be picked up by the cops from the city this happened in. we also know she has a warrant for arrest in california for stealing someone's identity and writing bad checks under that identity. the person whose identity she stole died about a month ago.

1st question: can she be arrested even if she is not doing anything illegal at the time? if we were to tell cops in the area she works that she has a warrant, will they be able to arrest her?

2nd question: if the person whose identity was stolen in california is no longer alive, does the warrant still stand?

3rd question: if she is arrested in illinois and the warrant in california is still valid, what happens to her then?

ok- well my previous questions have been answered by an attorney that the sister talked to. he said that yes the police can arrest her if someone tells them she has a warrant and they look it up, even if she is not doing anything illegal at the time. also the california warrant is still valid and both crimes are federal offenses.

HOWEVER- there are a couple of other things her sister is trying to get answered, if someone out there can help. we really want this girl to pay for here crimes so we can all get back to our little mundane, boring lives.

one is dealing with a fraudulent aol account (i am posting in the internet & intellectual property law category)

the other is dealing with a car that former friend's sister lent her last year. sister asked former friend 6 months ago for car back. former friend (f.f.) said car was in shop. f.f. has been giving sister that excuse for past 6 months, claiming that the shop she brought it to is not returning her calls to get car back, but f.f. will not give sister the info to the shop. sister called police to see if car had been impounded during f.f's possession. car not impounded nor is towed. one officer said to tell police that sister GAVE car not lent (though car was never GIVEN only lent) to f.f. because if anything happened in the car prior to these incidents stated above that sister would be held liable, not f.f.

can sister file a stolen car report since f.f. will not give car back?

If a car is lent to somebody and that somebody does not return the car then it is unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
The cops should take a report and either the police or your friends will have a warrant issued.

thank you SSSOOOOOO much- you have been such a help through this whole ordeal.

i am happy to report- the former friend was arrested last night. her sister and i went to a place we knew she would be at and her sister called the police. they came right away and arrested her and are holding her until the city this happened in can come and get her.

now we have to wait and see what they are going to do. not sure if she will get bail set, since there is a warrant in california for her.

thanks again. will keep you posted on the goings on.
