If 94% of the people in prison are for non-violent crimes, wouldn't it be wise to release all the non-violent criminals ( pot heads etc)

we would save close to 94 billion dollars a year, money we could use for homeless, rehabs, better roads, etc....

prison has been proven to make people aggresive and tempered, and also broke, which could lead to stress and aggrivation.

weren't prisons origianlly created for violent criminals to keep society safe?

I feel potheads are not a danger, when is the last time you hear a person getting high and going on a shooting spree..

If anything cigs and alcohol are the big killers..

Here's an easy way to "fix the system" - -

Stop committing crimes.

It's really very easy to stay out of trouble. Just follow and obey the laws. Don't be a jerk. Stop testing what you can, and cannot, get away with.

You're the one who's driving nuts in Florida! I read that thing earlier today and thought it was so insane it could probably win a spot on the David Letterman show. Pot heads are, in a sense, a very real danger to all of us. Your use of it contributes to violent crimes all over the world and makes our "war against drugs" a very costly operation. As long as there's profit in illegal drugs, there will be no "peace". Put your efforts into something else. As it is now, a lot of our US solidiers are going to be killed while you've got a doobie hanging out of your mouth and you're rallying to release all peaceful pot heads from prison. Unfortunately, we aren't at Woodstock anymore. 9-11 should be a wakeup call to all pot heads to at least think before they speak.

Why are we fighting wars? in the last 10 years we have bombed 21 countries? has all these countries attacked us?

and why did 9-11 happen with all the thrillions we spend on taxes we should have the ultimate defense, there are alot of things on 9-11 that did not make sence.

I don't justify wars, I know wars are a big prophit for many big corporations, I personally feel that 9-11 could have been prevented, and why do so many countires hate us? maybe it was because we have bombed over 21 countries? or maybe because we have military bases in almost every country in the world,

and as far as the drug war,its a waste of time, many countries are just legalizing the soft drugs, and at the same time the drug use is dropping, drug war is a waste of money, if anything cannibus used to be prescribed back in the early 20's and hemp was one of the most used fibers in the world, hemp can put some of the biggest corporations out of business, paper indusrty, cotton indusrty, petroleum industry, plastic industry, lumber industry and many many more.(maybe thats the reason hemp is illigal, canada made hemp legal, and their economy is growing)

more people die from the drug war, than the actual drug use,
no one has ever died from marijuana use, 7,000 people die from aspiren use alone.

If anything coca and cannibus has excisited in this world for thousands of years, and suddenly we have a war on it, and there has been many articles linking the CIA to drug trafficing, money is money and it can corrupt anyone,

look at colombia, they grow coke there and it has no problems with abuse as america has, why is that? so we should destroy a country because we have a habit, and once you destroy that country, then it will just move to brazil, then peru, then bolivia and so on and so on... I guess the postive is that once those rainforests are destroyed we can use it for petroleum fields and diamond & coal mines, (see the pattern)
but hey who needs oxygen,right, screw our kids.


I don't have a drug problem and I am not a pot smoker (used to be) so why should my tax dolllars be wasted on a drug war that has no end, and if you don't want your kids to do drugs, then be a good parent.

If anything I rather my kids drink cannibus teas, then see them smoke cigs, 450,000 people die a year from, and in older days cannibus was prescribed as a medicine for almost everything, better than most modern medicine poisen they give us.

and as far as danger, there are tons of elders that drive under the influence of medication everyday.

also think about this, if a person is speeding goint just 75 mph, on the highway, the police officer has to hit at least 120-130 to just catch up to him? what do you think is more dangerous,a person cruising at 75 or playing hot pursuit weaving around just so they can make an extra buck, do you think that the cop has any training to go over 80? there are no race tracks for cops, all they practice is going 45 around cones, I've seen cops fly by me at night with no headlights & no top lights just to be able to sneak up on someone, by going twice the speed limit, and you are calling me nuts.

I don't want to see soldiers dying on foreign soils, and most of the people that are against current wars are ex-vietnam soldeirs, look at vietnam, were we protecting our country from rice pickers?
I feel bad for them, I have many freinds that lost legs,and are mentaly traumatized, for a war that we should not even beem fighting

also look at iran, irag, afgan all those, isn't it wierd that most of the weapons they have are american made.

I rather see the soldiers here with their family's, if we invested all the money we spend on setting up foreign bases,into just setting up a great defense, we could be untouched, also we would give other countries less of a reason to attack us, I'm sure when we took over thier land to set up bases we are not the most peaceful people we think we are, first we offer them money,and if they still say no, then we just take it by force, its been like that for ages, whats the point of having the biggest and strongest military in the world, when we are also the most hated by most countries, we need to find alternate forms of fuel ( which we have many alternates, from ethenol, to hemp fuel, developed by henry ford, mercedes and deisel(actually the first engines ran on hemp fuel), runs cleaner and has a higher octane,)

Lets face it this war is just about oil dominance, we went from bin laden to saddam, why? because they have weapons of mass destruction(provided by us), well so do we, would we like another country to come over here and boss us around, lets just keep an eye on them, and thats it. why waste soldiers lives, just because we are paranoid, I have no reason to fear them, I havn't personally done anything against them.

How about we fight our own wars here, wars we can win, like war on hunger, war on poverty, war on increasing our economy, why not fix our country first, instead of wasting our money on wars, and then we would have nothing.

I'm sorry, if I don't agree with you, but I am a tax payer just like you, and do beleive I have a right to my opinion, (not like it matters anyway) 150,000 people protested against the war , doyou think they were heard?

I'm sorry, I'm a peaceful guy, until someone comes to my house and points a gun at me, then I will have a reason to defend myself.

I also think it wierd that they say that all the months that took into planning 9-11 we knew nothing, and then as soon at it happnes we knew who it was, who was in charge etc etc..

even pearl harbor was proven, that we knew, and we could have prevented it, but I guess we are better a fighting wars then preventing them, I guess we make more money that way, you need less weapons protecting ourselves then actually fighting wars.

and the only reason there is profit in illigal drugs, is because its illigal, if not people would grow cannibus plants in their backyard (like they used to back in the george washington days, but then no one would make profit there)

as far as releasing peacful pothead, why should we waste 150,000 a year for a person that smoked a joint, something that our forefather got to do without any problem. I rather see MY tax money better invested, we have people starving on the streets, kids going to over-crowded schools,

we hold 25 percent of the world's prison population, when we are only 5% of the overeall population, is it because we have more criminals, or because we have too many stupid laws.

prison is profit, they want to see people in prison, I had a freind spend 20 days in jail for hitch hiking (because she had no one to bail her out) , ohh yeah thats keeping us safe, thank you.

japan has 40 prisoners for 100,000, europe, 140 for 100,000 we have 1,800 for every 100,000 come on, we are wasting money.

thats all my argument is about, wasting our money, do you think I'm the only person that feels this way?

also 9-11 was a wake up call, and my wake up call was to ask WHY, why would we get attacked for, why did they attack our gov't, pentegon, WTC and white house are all gov't buildings,

If a friend of mine got punched in school, there has to be a reason, and yes its possible the person just does not like him, but if I find out later that my freind was at the bully's house prior and making deals, multi billion dollar bills, and they were buddys and even worked together, then we have to start asking questions, maybe my freind did something to piss him off.

The jails have always outnumbered the homeless shelters!!

Virtually every county, municipality, township, etc has jails. But not every one has a homeless shelter!!

I was starting to loose hope

at least someone sees what I see, feels like so many people are blinded and are just doing what they are told.

All I say is when we tear down all our trees , where will we get our oxygen, no money in the world can replace the need we have for nature,

Nature is beautiful, and you do not need to be a pot head to appreciate that, maybe people are working too much to just sit down for a while and breath some fresh air, and enjoy the peace and tranquility nature can provide.

here is an Ironic question, if our taxes pay for judges outrageous salaries, then why do we have to kiss their ass, its like my boss kissing my ass even though he is the one paying me.

Maybe we got things backwards, maybe we are supposed to be in control of the gov't and not the other way around.

Gov't can be a very powerful thing, and if we let it get out of hand , or even it falls into the wrong hands, we can be in a heap of trouble, or maybe even our kids,

see the word america is just a word, the true meaning is when people are in charge of it and in control of it.

as thomas jefferson said, when the people fear the gov't there will be tyranny, but when the gov't fears the people, there will be freedom.

Now who fears who?

I'm not trying to be anti-american, actually the opposite, I don't want this country taken over by greedy people that have no respect for human life, nature or peace, and its very possible if we don't pay attention, and its not about voting, because we all know that can be fixed and diverted, its about standing up, and speaking what we beleive in.

I have worked hard in this country, so has my dad & mom, paid a lot in taxes, to see it all wasted on meaningless wars and games.

and the prisons are not just costing more than homeless shelters, but also education,
and whats the point of having the most militant country in the world when our education system is getting dummified every year,

we cant just sit back and put all our trust in the gov't, remember the gov't is just a business like any other, we are the consumers, we put money in, and if we do not demmand good service ( excellent transportation, free health care (its possible) , excellent education, and better roads we won't get them.

whats the point of paying taxes if we don't get what we deserve, instead just go into the pockets of sneaky people.

money is money, and when there is easy money to make, people will take it, we need to vigilant, and atttentive.

For our own sake and our children's.

we keep comparing ourselves with third world countries, but we should instead compare ourselves with countries that are doing better than us. countries that have higher education, lower crime rates, (holland) free health care, child care, homless shelters, better roads ( autobahn) etc etc..
we never notice these countries, since all out attention is on third world countries.

and yes we there are people that say, if you don't like it, then get out, but we need to stop thinking locally, but instead globally, if people in china pour oil into thier waters, it will one day affect us over here..

You know what -- I can't read anymore of your rhetoric. I know a Vietnam Vet who would go to Iraq if he could, and I know a US soldier who's paying his last visit to friends before he heads back to Ft. Drum tomorrow for possible deployment. Maybe you and chick68 (who probably protested the Vietnam war, too) can get together and fill your peace pipes and discuss your views on Vietnam Vets, 9-11, and on our military and country in general while quoting Bible scriptures and blowing smoke rings at each other. I'll be doing what I feel I've got to -- support our country and the war against Iraq and anybody else who messes with us.

And I'll be adding not one -- but two imaginary chunks of bait to that hook, just wishing I could cast it all the way to Bermuda.
