How long can the police hold evidence?


What is the name of your state? Colorado...

The police have been holding evidence for near two years now with no charges ever being made. the case was dropped do to lack of evidence..

Can anyone help me?

March into the police station and ask for your stuff back. They are not going to call you up and and tell you to come and get it. After this long it may have already been sold at an auction.

You may find that you will need a release or an order from either the DA or the court to release the evidence. A dropped case may still be re-filed. That may be the reason they are still holding the evidence.
