I need help fast

State of MA; I lied on a police report and signed a statement that was not true. The trial is coming up and the defendant is looking at five years for assault and battery because of the statement I made. He did not commit the crime I said he did and I do not know what my legal options are. The trial is in about a week and I don't know what to do and what kind of trouble I am going to be faced with. Thank you for any response you can give me.

the only thing that you can do is call the prosecuter's office and explain your actions and probably the reason you made a false statement to begin with.do it now before they go through the expence of a trial where you can face serious penalties for perjury. at this point you may or may not be penalized for filing a false report, but it would still be minimal compared to the sentence you could get for perjury. hopefully they have bigger fish to fry and let you off with a severe tongue lashing
