What is the name of your state? SC
If an individual is arrested and bond is set by the judge Friday morning, the bond is posted by a bondsman Friday afternoon, how long after posting bond can the police legally detain someone before releasing them from jail What is the name of your state?

What are the circumstances? Was the person on parole and now been violated in addition to a new crime?

If the person has an outstanding warrant from another state/county, they will hold the person for a period of time (ten to fifteen days?) to give the other state/county the opportunity to pick them up for the outstanding warrant.

Usually when we post a bond in NJ, the defendent is out in a few hours. It all depends on the jail and how busy they are. Also, if there is a code and the jail is on lockdown or something similar, it can take a while. However, it shouldn't take more than that afternoon or into that night (sometimes it's 5 min from a municipal jail, sometimes it's 6 hours from a busy county jail). The only thing that would hold someone after a bond is posted is if they have other charges or another bail that is unpaid.
