My car was impounded by the police during a shoplifting theft. One person was arrested. They belive my son was involved and want to speak with him. The car is registered to both me or my son. The detective says they will not release the car from impound until I deliver them my son. My son is 18 years old and does not live with me and I do not know where he is. Can they keep this car and for how long. Do I have to pay the daily impound fee until they release it. Can I get a lawyer to petition the courts to have the car released?
