Insurance Fraud/Arson/Witness

What is the name of your state? Texas

An ex-girlfriend was charged with arson/insurance fraud a
few months ago. I was contacted by an Arson Investigator
and gave a recorded statement. I thought it was over, I
guess she wasn't officially charged? Now, I have been
subpoenaed for court to act as a witness for this coming
week. Well, as it turns out, I was informed by a former co-
worker that Harris County "officials" were looking for me
at my previous job. They had guns and badges and wanted to
know if they had a current telephone number or what my
whereabouts are....I'm concerned...does this mean I have a
warrant for my arrest? I have done nothing wrong. Does
anyone have a clue as to what this may be about?

Are you sure that the reason they are looking for you is connected with that case?

There is no way for us to know what this means. If there is a warrent for your arrest, they will find you. It is probably best to contact them and cooperate fully!

I can't say I'm 100 % certain that they are looking for me in relation to this case but, I do not really see any other reason why authorities/investigators would be seeking me at my former job. On a couple of occasions the main arson investigator came to my old job to pick me up and take me into his office for that recorded statement. Is it normal for investigators to try to contact a witness in a case such as this??? I was hoping just to appear for this court this coming week, state my say, and forget about this whole ordeal. Now I'm worried that they are trying to accuse me of something. Why else would someone be looking for me? I dont have any traffic ticket warrants, I havent done anything illegal before....Just confused...

I can tell that you are scared, but I still think you should at least call them to see what they want. It may turn out to be nothing and you will have worried for nothing. If it's something else, don't you think its best to get it over with?

Good luck and let us know how it went!

As Veronica stated, there is no way for us to know. The fastest way for you to find out would be a call to the police.

Guys,
I completely agree, I do plan on calling them to find out what the situation is, but I guess I'm trying to ease my mind a bit. Mostly, I need to know if arresting a witness is common in these type of cases. I mean, they have my address...I know that if I do have an arrest warrant it is inevitable that I'll be locked up...I received the subponea a couple of months...Oh, and my former co-worker explained that he did not have a current #, which he did, but he did give them my e-mail address which they gladly took....they were in plainclothes....I dunno, sorry, just worried...

No, they wouldn't arrest a witness, but you don't know that this is what they were there to do. You are seriously going to worry yourself sick if you wait much longer to call. If you are innocent then you should have nothing to worry about.

If I found out the police were looking for me I would not be worried because I have no reason to worry. If you know that you have committed no crime then call them right now. After you get off of the phone let us know what they say.

I'm so glad we finally found each other.

My computer is running painfully slow today, I write out the replies just to see you have already written the same thing. I would think it was creepy, except it's you that it happens with.

Gee, I hope they weren't coming to put him into protected custody until the trial.

If they were, wouldn't you suspect there would be a good reason for him to be in protective custody?

Absolutely, especially with the heading "Insurance Fraud/Arson/Witness".
