What is the name of your state? Arizona

Is it legal for a police agency to contact the IRS and ask for personal information? without a warrant or court order.

They can ask ... depending on what the information is, they may not get it. There are number of protections in place preventing the disclosure of SOME information.

Exactly what information was obtained?

Oh, and good luck suing the IRS for releasing any info they might not have been permitted to!

I would have FOIA the information exactly what was given out. But they do have IG departments that must investigate complaints.
