Juvenile arrested-criminal damaging

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Ohio

My 16 yr. old was arrested for criminal damaging (hitting a city trash can on purpose). Here's how it went down,

-Someone reported loud noises, police (3 of them) found my son and 3 other boys (who were in the car) about an 1/8mi. away, police questioned them, my son admitted to hitting "one" trash can as the other boys had also told them this -as well as they were messing around and doing donuts (no ticket of any kind was given-was just told we'd probably receive a bill in the mail for the damaged "trashcan")
-My son unfortunately didn't tell us, but we received a call from the police (not that night) but the next day at 11:00pm (said they were backed up). still no mention of ticket / arrest.
-almost one month later we were served with court summons'-that our son had been arrested and to appear in court. On/with the summons is the report of the officer(says 2 trash cans)-NO WRITTEN REPORTS WERE TAKEN FROM OUR SON OR ANY OF THE 3 OTHER BOYS. The arrest date on this copy of the arrest/ticket is 5 days later from the date of the incident.
-my son has NO priors
-Q: does he have to report this on job applications & will this affect insurance?
ANY ADVICE and ANSWERS? Have never been through anything like this before.

Talk with an attorney. A conviction or true finding miught have unseen ramifications aside from the obvious.

As for putting an arrest on applications, that depends on state law. In CA private sector employers (and most government ones) cannot ask about an arrest - only convictions. That may be true in OH also. His attorney should be able to answer that one.
