Is this legal

What is the name of your state? Colorado

A friend of mine was home sleeping and was woke up by 4 cops. These cops where there to write him a ticket for driving with a suspended lisence, figtious plates and no insurance.
First of all he just got out of comcor about two weeks ago and took care of all his driving things, Second of all these cops came to his house 2 days after they supposably was seen driving. Is this legal to come to his house 2 days after they seen him driving and give him a ticket? Why didnt they pull him over then? Can they do this? just doesnt seem right to me. please someone tell me if this is right?

No. Search the site for "stale misdemeanor".

Because the lack of a crystal ball does mean no polygraph, right.

Not that I put much cred in "my friend" stories online or in real life...

Hmmm ... is "comcor" a correctional facility? I'm guessing he got out on parole or probation. If so, then the search was likely perfectly lawful. Whether they can issue a citation for a stale traffic offense will depend on CO law.

I suspect there is more to the story ... four cops don't show up to write a traffic ticket. I suspect that the traffic issue might have been the pretext for the contact, but something else piqued their interest.
