Legal to fire pellet gun in backyard?

What is the name of your state? Nevada

Is it legal to fire a pellet gun in a backyard? The backyard is enclosed in 6' walls and the pellet gun is a 400 fps semi-auto 0.177 cal pistol. The targets are cans and bottles and all the bibis are shot inside the yard.

Can the police be called and charges be issued?

That is likely a city or county code issue. Call your local police or sheriff's department. In CA most cities have ordinances against that - I suspect the same is true in your city.

While you think they are safe and okay, there is almost ALWAYS one that gets away and tags a neighbor's window or the neighbor him/herself.

That would have to fall into the category of "Really, really, REALLY bad, dumb luck."

But, you never know. The person that gets hurt can be very well connected.

And even if you have all the fences in the world up, a deflected pellet or BB can still cause damage and liability. We get calls on it all the time.
