What is the name of your state? Colorado . A friend was driving a vehicle with the wrong plates on it . An officer decided to pull her over , but not untill she was in the parking lot of a grocery store .(didnt have cherries on until she entered the lot ). The officer went ahead and pulled her out of the car for ficticious plates, And had decided to impound the vehicle .He started searching the vehicle and before he found anything the driver said that there was a firearm in the backseat in a gun case (not concealed \ nor loaded ). the officer then decided to search the rest of the vehicle and she told him she didnt give him permission to do so but did anyways stating that it was for inventory
Does he have the right to do this ?
And is she liable for items in the vehicle even if vehicle \items wern't hers ?

Does he have the right to do this ? He has an obligation.

Is she liable for items in the vehicle even if vehicle \items weren't hers? In as much as they were in her possession, yes.
