Misrepresentation?

please help, fear lawyer is failing to do job. went to pretrial for charges of sexual assault 1 & 4 (don't know what #'s mean) and no one showed up to press charges except spouse, who only knows hear say, and her lawyer. my lawyer failed to inform me that there was no one there to press charges, but he took a plea bargain with the prosecuting attorney. what is my recourse?
also, how much info should my defense lawyer know going into a pretrial and how much should he tell me? state of michigan
