Question

My rights on foot?

What is the name of your state? California

I am walking down the street and a cop interrogates me. Am I required by law to take any form of tests (pupil dilation tests, walking in a straight line, etc.)? May I refuse to do so?

Sure, but don't be surprised if the cop arrests you on the spot.

It appears he suspected you were under the influence of drugs ... or, he was going a long way for a public intoxication arrest. But, as was said, you CAN refuse ... but you can also go to jail if all the officer has to base his suspicions on is the activity that caught his attention in the first place.

I doubt he just picked you at random, so SOMETHING caught his eye.

And...

They don't send people who are merely drunk to detox. You have to be thoroughly wasted.
