I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about LA county codes for noise disturbances. My friend has private property where we ride our dirt bikes and we received complaints about noise disturbances but there is a code where you can the noise restrictions are only from 630 am to 800pm so it is legally allowed and the police officer was telling us other information that didnt add up to the noise codes. If anyone has anyone knowledge of this subject any info would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone can call to complain about noise - its called 'disturbing the peace' per PC 415.

415. Any of the following persons shall be punished by imprisonment
in the county jail for a period of not more than 90 days, a fine of
not more than four hundred dollars ($400), or both such imprisonment
and fine:
(1) Any person who unlawfully fights in a public place or
challenges another person in a public place to fight.
(2) Any person who maliciously and willfully disturbs another
person by loud and unreasonable noise.
(3) Any person who uses offensive words in a public place which
are inherently likely to provoke an immediate violent reaction.

Whether a court would view the noise as unreasonable is questionable. It is also possible that LA County (or city - wherever you live) has an ordinance against off-road vehicles. There may even be other applicable ordinances that cover what KIND of noise is permissable and what is not.

I would suggest you call the police or sheriff and find out the answer before you end up in court.

Operating or permitting the operation of powered model vehicles so as to create a noise disturbance across a residential real-property boundary, or within a noise-sensitive zone between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. the following day is prohibited. (Ord. 11778 § 2 (Art. 5 § 501(g)), 1978: Ord. 11773 § 2 (Art. 5 § 501(g)) 1978.)
