Paid off from an Assault Case

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

I am currently involved in an assault case, and the defendant wants to pay me off, in return that I don't testify in court against her. Now from my understanding if I never receive the subpeona to go to court, then when will I know to go? Therefore, not testifying, will the case be dropped? Or, will the courts put out a bench warrant for my testimony?

Let's start from the top.

Is this civil or criminal?

Since it is concerning an assault, I would imagine the OP is referring to a criminal case.

Or to be more specific, the OP is referring to accepting a bribe in a criminal case.

Which will end up making two more criminal cases. One for the person who offers the Bribe and one for whoever accepts the bribe.

It's no wonder our courts are so backlogged with cases,,,,

I will pretend I didn't read that.
