What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA

Hi guys.
I had pirated materials (songs, software, ebooks) on a laptop. I deleted these, and sold laptop. The problem is, the buyer can use a file recovery tool to recover these.

I know about file shredding tools that make files irrecoverable, I just didn't have the time to run one.
If buyer ends up finding all this evidence on the laptop, what can happen? Will I get in trouble?
There wasn't that many, maybe 2 songs, 5 programs, 5 ebooks...?

The odds of someone both recovering the lost data AND calling the cops to report it, AND the cops knowing or caring what to do with the information are somewhere between infinitesimal and none.

You are more likely to be tracked down by your IP address used to make the original downloads than you are to be popped this way.

You have nothing to worry about. The police wouldn't care. Copyright infringement (unless we are talking about large scale for-profit operations) is a civil matter.

Besides, once the other party took control of the computer, it will be a lot harder to prove it was the OP who did the illegal acts. I agree with the others, the computer is not a problem.

I think someone is worried about "illegal porn"..if i found that on my computer i would call the police.. I wouldnt care if i found pirated software..
