What is the name of your state? CT
my friend went to a store came out without buying an item.she threw the item away after leaving the store thinking somebody in the store spotted her take the item. She was then stopped by a security officer and the employee of the previous store in another store on a different floor demanding the stolen item.she denied saying she did not take anything. They searched her but found nothing on her.police was called made her wait for 30 minutes and the police searched her again but did not find anything.they asked her for her license which she gave and she was told to leave. she was not finger printed or given any kind of citation/ticket. if the camera spotted her in the store can charges be filed later on? do stores normally record stuff or just for keeping an eye at customers ?after how many days can the charges be expected to be recieved? Can the police come to her house to arrest her? This is the first time she did this and regrets it deeply and is very concerned about this. Please help!!!!

They have at least a year to file charges.

As a matter of policy, every business I've worked for that receives customers recorded and retained surveillance for 30 days. It's very possible this store might as well.
