"Often prosecutors make plea bargain offers at pretrials. This means the prosecutor agrees to allow the defendant to plead guilty to certain charges, often reduced charges, to spare the state the expense of a trial."

My response:
Calatty is correct. And, this is usually the time when ultra liberal "Calatty" asks the prosecutor (someone like "NorthDA") to reduce her client's charges from "child molestation" down to "jay-walking."
Calatty usually gets laughed out of the courthouse when she does this, but she feels "Hey, if you don't ask, you don't get." Great mantra.
One of these days, Calatty's head is going to explode and a prize is going to pop out.
