are police allowed to randomly run license plates? i was pulled over and arrested for driving on a suspended license. i was not speeding nor violating any traffic laws. the officer told me he just ran my plate as a matter of course

My response:

Yes. That's one of the reasons why we have license plates. They are there for identification, and for when police get "hunches". Guess what? The law allows them to "play their hunches".
