What is the name of your state? AZ

I was arrested for possesion of marijuana (about 1.5 grams) and paraphanelia. I was taken to the station and questioned but never fingerprinted or photographed. Are fingerprints and photographs necessary for it to be a true arrest? Or is my name, adress and SS # etc. all they need for a conviction?

And you can be charged, tried, and convicted without ever really being formally arrested. It's done all the time on minor stuff like shoplifting. Sometimes the finger printing and mug shots don't come until after the first court hearing.
