| | Questions About Warrants That A Lot Of People Would Like To Know To Make A Long Story Short, I Ran A Small Business That Went Out Of Business And I Fired A Few Employes That I Should Have Fired A Long Time Before Things Got Tight, And Two Of Them ( A Husband And Wife Team ) Took Out Warrants On Me For Theft Of Services Because Their Last Payroll Check Bounced, The Checks Bounced With A Liquor Store And I Have Been Making Payments To The Owner And Almost Got Them Paid Off.
I Did Not Mean For The Checks To Bounce, It Was A Result Of The Business Failing...the Husband And Wife Team Got Their Money, Because They Cashed The Checks At The Liquor Store...so Should't This Matter Be Between Me And The Owner Of The Liquor Store....it Is My Understanding That After The Owner Of The Store Agreed To Take Payments The Checks Then Became A Debt, And Not A Bad Check...as The Debt Is Almost Paid Off...this Happened In Ga, I Now Live In Another State And Think That There May Still Me Warrants Out For Me And Maybe Even A Bench Warrant...the Question Is Do You Think That The State Of Ga Will Hunt Me Down For These Warrants...i Have Never Been In Any Trouble With The Law And Have Not Had The Money To Deal With This Legal Issue And It Has Made My Life A Living Hell....the Reason That I Moved To Another State Was To Get Away From My House, Because This Couple, Would Drive By At All Hours, Stalking Me And Sending Threats By Notes, Emails And In Any Other Way Possible, I Have Tried To Be Foregiving And Turn The Other Cheek.....but Just Could Not Be Stalked Any More...can A Good Lawyer Get This Messed Cleared Up, With Out Me Having To Go Back To Ga....please Advise.... |

If you committed a felony in one state, a second state may pick you up on behalf of the first state (where you committed the crime).
If you had a different question, then please coherently ask it. Thanks.

| | Warrant Q And A That I And I Bet Others Would Like To Know Warrant Q & A
1) If A Person Has A Warrant In One State, How Likely Is It That The State That The Person Has The Warrant In, Will Try And Hunt Down The Wanted Person In Another State? ( Say For A Bad Check )
2) What Are The Chances That A Good Lawyer Can Get Warrants Say For Bad Checks Felony Or Mis.. Removed And Settled With Out The Person Having To Go Back To Court?
3) As I Asked In The First Posting: I Had Two Employees That Had Their Payroll Checks To Bounce, They Cashed Them At A Liquor Store, So They Got Their Money, When I Found Out About This Situation I Worked Out A Payment Plan With The Owner Of The Store, And He Is Almost Paid Off...these Two Employees Are A Married Couple, They Each Took Out A Warrant On Me For Theft Of Services...since They Got Their Money...and I Have Amost Paid Off The Store Owner, ( The Couple Never Picked Up Any Of The Checks ) Should't This Matter Be Between Me And The Store Owner???? How Can They Say They Had Their Services Stolen???
I Promise You I'm Not A Crook, I Had Business Problems That Was Beyond My Control And A Couple Of Former Employees ( A Married Couple ) Got Mad At Me And Has Did Everything Possible To Make My Life A Hell...but As Everyone Knows It Takes Money To Handle Most Legal Problems, And I Plan To Handle My Problems As Soon As I Have That Money..( This Was The Advice That My Lawyer Gave Me- He Said Lay Low Until You Got The Money To Get Yourself Out Of This Mess)..i Know That You Can't Tell Me Exactly What Will Happen...but Maybe Can Tell Me What Normally Happens....i Have Never Been In Any Legal Trouble Until This Situation...and There Has Not Been A Day That Has Went By That It Has Not Taken Its Toll On Me As A Person...thanks For Your Help |

The chances are about 50-50, more or less.

( Say For A Bad Check ) | They will not "hunt you down" for a bad check. You run the risk, however, of getting arrested every time you have contact with the police.
No one can tell you how likely it is that you'll be arrested. Quote: |

| It has less to do with how good the lawyer is, and more to do with the procedures of the court that issued the warrant. Some courts might allow a lawyer to post bond on your behalf, or even pay off the check for you.
Usually, if you have a warrant, the only way to take care of it is to to turn yourself in. Quote: |

| If you passed a bad check, you committed a crime. Crimes are between the state and the defendant, not between the victim and the defendant.
As a practical matter, prosecutors will often dismiss theft by check cases in return for restitution - paying back the money you stole. However, they're not required to do that, and if they do, it's something you have to work out with the prosecutor, not the victim (whoever that may be). Quote: |

| Normally what happens is you're arrested (or you turn yourself in), you make bond, you pay the money back, and the case gets dismissed. |

| | | If you are not a crook, and have nothing to fear, and are worried about how to proceed, of course, the legit advice would be to consult a reputable lawyer in your area.
Bad checks, regardless of the circumstances are not something you want to put off if you can.
I would suggest being as proactive as you can, of course, it sounds pretty complicated and a good lawyer can probably give you better advice.
Personally, I would try to clear my own charges first, then sweat the people who owe you money, it just makes sense. Clear up your own issues first, then worry about the other guys..imho | |
