Removal from Sex Offender registryMississippi - the court appointed attorney said just plead guilty & he did - there was no evidence..7 yrs later out of the penitentiary; 10 yrs later his name is still on the registry. He was told it would be deleted after 7 yrs. He wants his name cleared. Is there a Ms law that says it can be done after 7 years? |

| What was the conviction for? What charge? |

| Who told him it would be deleted? If you are convicted (which occurs after you plead guilty) you have to specifically petition for relief from registering. That occurs 15, 25, or perhaps NEVER (depending on the charge) after you finish your prison, parole, or probation. Was his charge pardoned or otherwise vacated? |

| Golly, another IAAL thread. Well given the charge, the kid is going to have lifetime registration. Getting off the sex offender registry isn't going to clear his name. He still has the felony conviction for the sex offense. |

| And this thread: http://forum.freeadvice.com/showthread.php?t=412236 Once he's on the registry in Alabama as an adult, there's no getting off the registry.
