return of federally siezed items

State, Wyoming. During a legal search the feds confiscated a bunch of our stuff. this was 6 months ago. No charges have been made. They say they are checking ballistics. (On a shotgun?) What are my rights, if any? Can they just keep seized items forever, even if no charges are brought? Is there any time limit ?
