What is the name of your state? WA
a group of people had a garage that they were working on their motorcycles in. one of these motorcycles was mine. based on their past reputation, the FTA and DEA watched them. they got a warrant to inspect a woodstove that they thought might have been improperly installed. there was a raid, which included the local police, sherrifs, DEA, FTA, FBI, and whoever else they drudged up. they were obviously looking for a meth lab. (like i said, some of these people had a reputation from 20+ years ago) however, most of these people were, at the time, a group of clean and sober folks-abstnant from all drugs and alcohol. there was no meth lab, no stolen property, nothing. several people, including the landlord's wife were held at gunpoint. all the motorcycles were seized. the property was eventually given back, because there was no reason to take it.
one of the bikes belonged to a lawyer, and he has filed a suit against the state for infringment of our civil rights.
this was clearly a case of over-zelous officers. what are our chances of compensation, and what is the best route to take with this case?
thanks for your time
