Sexual Misconduct with a Minor

What is the name of your state? Texas

I am uncertain as to the exact nature of the charge with which my friend is being filed against, but an older male friend of mine has been charged with a crime that I am not privy to of which the nature relates to a sexual relation with a minor, also male. I am concerned that any form of contact with said older male friend would be harmful to his case. I am a minor as well. Would my contact with him be harmful to his case, or am I doing myself a disservice by not allowing myself to contact him?

The case has not been brought to court and is still in investigation.

I am also curious as to the legality of losing one's job under the same allegations. He was employed as a professor of a Texas Public University and has since been removed from his position.

Any help would be greatly appreciatied.

Help with what? Whether or not to be "friends" with the alleged molester? That is up to you dude. Could hanging out with minors look bad to an Investigator?? I would think so.

Any person who is accused of illegal sexual contact with a minor would be foolish to continue to have unsupervised contact with other minors.

You would be wise to re-think your relationship with this person, particularly if it is a sexual relationship.

Absent an employment contract that has conditions to the contrary, an employer in Texas can fire an employee at any time for any reason or no reason at all.

Thank you for your quick responses. I appreciate the information pertaining to legal rights of individuals much more than one would think.

And no, the "alleged molester" was a member of the faculty of the school I attend and one of my professors. As I am a minor that cares for him on a friendship level, I did not want to cause any undue strife in his investigation, nor did I want to throw away a perfectly good friendship. In any event, I have had no sexual relations with him because that would be both illegal and really creepy.

I thank you for the information with reguards to unsupervised contact. I will be certain to inform the rest of my friends that such contact would be frowned upon and dangerous to the investigation.

Thank you.
