Should i fight the ticket or no?

I live in New York State. Saturday night a friend of mine and i double dated to a movie. Well after the movie was over we went to our vehicles which were parked in the lot across the road from the movie theater. Well when we left we went around the corner and slid the back ends of our vehicles around the corner of the parking lot, we then went back around and did it again (it was like blowing half a donut). After the second time we stopped and when we were getting ready to leave a Potsdam Police Officer came up to us and told us to pull into a parking spot and turn the vehicles off. Well bottom line we each got a misdemenor for wreckless driving. There are a few things i have questions about. First of all on my ticket my last name is spelled incorrectly, there is a letter missing. I dont know if that matters or not but i just figured i would ask. Second when the cop came up to us he said "its ****ing cold out" and then proceeded back into his car after he got our information. When he was in the cop car with the other cop he just kept laughing and smiling and pointing to where we had done the crappy donut and explaining to the other officer. Then a sherriff showed up and he proceeded to laugh and point and explain tot he sherriff what we did again. I dont know if it matters that he acted like this or not but i figured i would ask. Also when the cop gave me the ticket he told me that my friend had gotten the same ticket b4 he actually gave him the ticket... again i dont know if that could help me or not. Both my friend and I are eligible for a reduction on the ticket as neither of us had really had anything major before. My main question is would it be worth it for either of us to fight the ticket or should we just try for the reduction and suck it up? To me it just seems like a misdemenor for giving it a little gas and sliding the back end around a corner is a little much. Thanks ahead of time for any help!

Nothing you've posted will have any bearing on the reason you received the citation. You were intentionally hot rodding around for kicks. While doing so in an empty parking lot may not have placed anyone in danger, it is still illegal and considered reckless driving.

I don't know if the fact that you were screwing around on private property and not a public road or highway will help you any, but nothing you mentioned in your post will help you beat this citation.
