Someone help me please with ongoing investigationWhat is the name of your state? What is the name of your state?Pennsylvania I am a nursing supervisor at a long term care facility. One night while I was working, we discharged a patient. Normally when a patient is discharged and has narcotics, they are kept in the narcotic box, untill they can be given to our boss, and she destroys them. I work from 3pm-1130 pm. The patient was discharged at 4pm. I told the medication nurse to keep the narcotics in the drawer, and they would be given to the boss tomorrow to be destroyed. Well, sometime between 4pm and 7am the next morning, the meds dissapeared (it was 178 percocets). The police were called, and are currently doing an investigation. I do not have keys to the medicine carts, only the medication nurses do, so obviously it is between the nurse that worked with me on 3-11 shift, or the nurse that worked 11-7 shift that took the pills. Well, the police came back to the facility, and gave me, the day shift urse, and the 11-7 nurse an 8 page questionarre to fill out Alot of open ended questions, I guess looking for someone to hang themselves. The questionarre is very intimidating. The first page rules state not to make any corrections, that each word is important and may be checked at a later date, use only pen toi fill it out etc. The questions are like "How would you explain the missing pills?", "what are the 5 most important causes of this situation?" "If you were going to conduct the investigation, how would you do it?" Then it asks "How did oyu feel while completing this form?" Now, I wasnt going to fill it out. I have nothing to hide, and hve no problem answering any questions, but I dont need the stress. Well yesterday I was told by the cop that basically if I dont fill it out, Ill be considered guilty. Should I fill this out, or take it to a lawyer? |

| You do not HAVE to fill the form out. But, like anything else, failing to answer the questions the police have will make them suspicious of your involvement. You can choose to run it past an attorney if you want, but paying an attorney to look at the form would kinda be overkill if you ask me. If you don't want to cooperate with this part of the investigation, just don't answer it. If they charge you with the offense, THEN get the attorney. But, if you have the money, getting an attorney on retainer might help to preempt problems. Though I don't know if you have a couple thousand dollars sitting around for that sort of thing. Carl
