statute of limitations

What is the name of your state? washington state
What is the statute of limitations on theft. My son stole a billfold 9 years ago and was charged with the crime. He was let out without bail and moved to montana before the court date. He is back in Washington and was pulled over for a tail light and the officer said they had a warrent out for his arrest in Spokane. He just told him to contact them and take care of it. Is there a statute of limitations on this and wouldn't they have arrested him if it was still valid.

Warrants do not have statute of limitations. The charges against your son did not warrant, in that officer's opionion, an arrest. You don't mention where your son was pulled over but if it was near the end of the officer's shift and if he made an arrest, he would have to take your son to Spokane. The next cop that pulls him over my decide a drive to Spokane would be nice that day. The real question to ask your son is, do you feel lucky?
