Washington State -
Hello My boyfriend was arrested on a 12year old warrant for a fine of 100.00 that he had received when he was 14yrs of age,( he moved shortly after the crime and his parents never paid it.) He was in the sate of Oregon where we live and the cops told him at the station that if he refused to pay and fight it he would have the warrant re-issued in the state of Oregon and be arrested. To make matters worse the company he works for didnt like the fact that he was arrested and had to leave the company vehicle on the side of the road, so they fired him fired him for leaving the vehicle unattended and giving the company a bad reputation. Is there any LEGAL advice or proceedings that we can do to rectify this. Its wrong for someone who is doing what most civilized law abiding citizens do and to be punished for a 12 yr old juvenile petty crime.

HELP ME!!!

your boyfriend has been an adult for 8 years. this should have been handled back then. he knew he had a ticket.

he needs to contact the court, quash the warrant, find out how to pay the fine in full and how much the fine is.

as far as the job goes, he needs to get his criminal matters in order and start looking for a new job.

We already paid the fine and he has had NUMEROUS background checks for his jobs and NOONE has ever reported this to him. HE did not know that the ticket wasnt paid for, HE WAS 14yrs old. As far as his criminal "issues" he had none except from when he was 14yrs old, so its pretty ridiculous to put the responsibility on him.

no one is responsible for reporting his criminal record to him except himself. maybe the prior jobs didn't consider it a point in hiring him? maybe they didn't even do an extensive background check. not all places of employment background check ALL of their employees.

he commited the crime. that makes him responsible.

as far as the bolded goes, if the fine is already paid....then why are you even whining about it?

OP, even petty criminals need to be held accountable. Nice to know he took care of his issue. It is now time to spruce up the resume and look for a new job.
