What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? South carolina. Is law enforcement allowed to examine and search what's in your pockets? (or your purse). If you say "NO!", can they just do it anyways?

There are books on the subject. Probably get a better answer if you research. Criminal law for dummies is probably the easiest to understand. 10 bucks on amazon right now. If you described the incident perhaps you could get a more concise answer.

More concise than a "maybe" or an "it depends" ?

Perhaps it would be well that you pay a "brief" visit to Amazon.com to order a dictionary.
