What is the name of your state? Texas, Hunt County

Did something stupid in college, almost 10 years ago. Passed 3 bad checks in 1996. In Oct. 2005, received a letter for a warrant for my arrest for theft by check in Hunt county for these checks. After calling the DA office, was told the burden of proof paid is my responsibilty. These are almost 10 years old.

questions are: is there a statue of limitations for this?
I have paid these, can only prove 1. Had to pay 2 retial chains by cashiers check and no longer have copies of receipt. DA has offered to reduce to class c misdemeanor. What does this mean? What options do I have?

Thanks!

They are willing to let you plead guilty and pay the checks and court costs with no jail time.
