Ticked off momWhat is the name of your state? Washington I need some advice. Two boys (eight graders) threw rocks and a metal lock at my daughter after school today. The lock hit her in the ankle and is causing her pain and bruising. The rocks hit her also, but did not cause any visible injury. What can a parent do about a situation like this? Thank you for any advice. What is the name of your state? |

| That is what I thought, but I was told that because of their age, the school had to be notified first and they would handle it. I guess I was so mad when I wrote this, I did not add that part. I did not think that was the way I should do it and wanted to know what someone else thought. |

| Although I'm sure the school would love to be notified since it happened on school property, I don't believe there is any law that states they must be contacted first. If you like you may go right for the police. However, the school likely does have a laid-out procedure for dealing with situations like this, and may be less stressful for all to go through those channels. Also, don't let this situation go stale before doing something about it. The moment your daughter told you what happened you should have taken her to a doctor. Immediately after the visit you should have called the school, or whatever authority you choose, and put the complaint in. |
