towing company and credit card

What is the name of your state? californica

The private towing company towedd my car from apartment parking lot. They told me that they are part of police and we had to pay the county police fee, and they just add extra fee on 5 different ways and charged me an over priced ticket. My car was parked in a place they could towe legaly. However the price is way overcharged. I asked them to show me the documents that prove that they are part of police, they just gave me the number, and I called. The police told me that they have nothing to do with it. If I pay the fee in creditcard, and cancel the card right after, they can't charge me. And that is the only way I can fight back. Would it be a crime? If I am dealing with a shady pirot company like that I think I can do that and Have no problem. Because they are using the police name to charge extra money. Please someone tell me if it's a crime to cancel an account to avoid charge from towing company. Would towing company sue me or report me for a some kind of credit card crime? Thanks.
