What is the name of your state? PA

I friend got a DUI in PA and he is gonna enter in the ARD program. He moved to CT and he wants to tranfer his drive license for there. is there any similar ARD program? His lawyer said once they dont have a ARD or a similar program in CT he can do that and drive as well. He is a international student and he has his drive license just to 2008, Is he gonna get a license in CT for 5 years? Does he needs to have a valid visa just for transfer his drive license? Does he needs to do the drive test and this kind of stuff to transfer his license or not yet? He will have his drive license suspended in the end of september or october problably.

Thank you for all,

He's got problems bigger than his driver's license. ARD is a probation that is given in lieu of a conviction for an offense. If he violates that probation he is subject to whatever penalties there may have been for the original offense. Most likely he could have arranged to just finish the ARD supervision remotely (telephone reports to the PO, etc.) or having the probation transferred (not even sure they would have bothered). He needs to go beg forgiveness from his PO ASAP.

There's no way he's going to get a Conn. license until he resolves his issues in PA.

Hum**************

He's lawyer told him once that in CT they don't have a similar ARD program he can transfer his drive license for there. Is that right? Do you know if in CT do they have a similiar program as ARD for the first ofense?

Thks,

He can't move his probation and he's second court will be on june 22.
He will have his drive license suspended by august or september the lawyer said. And he's going for the ARD program. The lawyer said once the state do not have a similiar program (ARD) like PA they will not suspend his drive license. And now he is still driving and he doesn't have any DUI in the PA system the laywer said. He rent a car last week with his PA drive license normaly. So What do you think about it? He doesn't know anything about CT state laws. Do you know if they have a similiar program like ARD in CT for people who have the first ofense?

Thanks,

You can't move while you are on probation.

Did you ask your probation officer if you can move?
In English, we refer to ourselves in the first person, not the third person.

In any event, you need to cancel your plans on moving. Stay where you are and finish your probation.

I am having a hard time following you. By the words "second court" are we talking about his appearance on the original charge? Has he been granted ARD yet or is there an additional offense?

It dosen't matter what CT has or doesn't have. If he was arrested in Pennsylvania, it's up to Pennsylvania (his probation officer/court) to decide whether they wish to administer ARD for him. ARD isn't some sanction by the department of motor vehicles, it is a program administered by the criminal court that lets you avoid a criminal conviction if you comply with the terms of the probation.

If there is a second offense that we are missing, he's got bigger problems. First he's not going to get ARD for that (you only get to play that game once) and further conviction on the second charge is going to be a violation of the ARD conditions and open him up to conviction on the first charge.

Further, even if they do allow him to live in CT, as I said initially, there is NO WAY that CT will give him a license until he has cleared his suspension in PA.

Ok. He had his first audience on may 21 and he just signed some papers. He needed to schedulle a alcohol evaluation. He is gonna do this evaluation on june 9. He is gonna pay 200.00 for that. After that he will have a second court at june 22 where the lawyer will be represent him. It is his first ofense. His lawyer said that he can transfer his drive license for any state where they do not have a similar ARD program. We only would like to know if in CT state they have the similiar program or no. If they have he will not try to transfer his drive license for there.

OBS: He is not sure if will be accepted to the ARD program yet, just after june 22, but he has all the chances to be accepted.

thks,

ooouuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!

What is the Alcohol Education Program (AEP)?
This is a diversionary program that results in the Criminal Drunk Driving Charge being dismissed provided you qualify for the program and complete the course you are offered. There is an application fee of $150.00. The Court, if you qualify, will order you to take either 10 or 15 sessions of this educational program. The added cost for the 10 session program is $325.00 and for the 15 sessions it is $500.00.
Is it a similiar ARD program right????

hahahahahahaha!!! He needs to wait!!!!!!!!!!! no transfers!!!!!!
