traveling with a warrant

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? FLORIDA

I have a friend who may have a warrant for his arrest for violation of probation for the first time since he has been on probation for 18 months.
He is planning to take a trip to Puerto Rico, Can they pull this information at the airport? Will he still be able to leave on vacation?

It depends on the severity of his crime. It is possible but not likely. Generally, people only get one VOP while on probation. It would be prudent for him to deal with the warrant to avoid revocation and the possibility of prison.

Heading to PR without permission is probably a further VOP.
