Question

Trying to find out where a warrant was issued

My husband and I live in Michigan, and his ex-wife and two oldest daughters now live in Indiana. The ex is remarried as well, and we recently found out that her new husband still has two outstanding warrants in Michigan. One is for embezzlement, and the other is for violation of parole. Since the girls live with this man, my husband and I would very much like to know what crime he committed to end up on parole in the first place, but we're not getting anywhere. We need to know where his case was tried (what county) so we can contact the Dept. of Corrections there, and the only way we can find out where it happened is to learn in which county these warrants were issued. I've tried contacting the State Police, and they claim that they can't tell me anything, so now I don't know what to try. We're very concerned that the kids might be in danger living with this person, and knowing what crime he committed would either set our minds at ease or push us to send CPS in to get the kids out of there. Trying to get this information from the kids' mother would be futile, since she had hidden the fact that her husband was a convicted felon in the first place, and if she even knew that WE knew about the warrants, she'd probably take the kids and disappear (it wouldn't be the first time). How can I get this information??? Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

if you went to the police in their home town and told them that so and so has an outstanding warrant in michigan, they can look it up on their ncic database where all criminal warrants are posted. the police however are not likely to divulge the information they access.
