U.S attorney question

What is the name of your state? NY

I have a quick question about something that happened last summer. Someone I know was involved in an illegal activity last summer, They gave the police my name and threw me under the bus with them. I was threatened to be arrested at my job so I went and hired a lawyer to protect myself and my wife, I have never been arrested or in jail for anything ever. Fast foward 8 months and now my lawyer calls me and said that there are U.S attorneys that want to talk to me. I am just wondering what my rights are? Do I have to stop my busy schedule to make the 2 hr commute to talk to the U.S attorneys? Basically the way I see it is if they really wanted to talk to me they would have done it months ago.

Your right is to refuse to talk to them and let them go ahead and charge you or subpoena you as a witness in some other court action.

You've got a lawyer, he's more inclined to be able to make a better informed recommendation than we can at a distance.

I am confused as to why I would need to talk to other attorneys and not authorities. Has anyone ever gone through something like this before? My attorney is not trustworthy and is only concerned about filling his pockets so if that means a trip to talk to the U.S attorneys than that is what he is going to do.

The US attorneys are the authorities. I'm not sure I follow your question. The US Attorney's are not necessarily operating in your best interest. You need to find an attorney that you can trust who has a duty directly to you to advise you as to what and when you should say to these PROSECUTORS.
