Unpaid speeding tickets, warrant and re-entering the countryWhat is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? CA and NJ I had a speeding ticket in CA in late 1999 and had to move out of the country before I could take care of it. Then I returned in 2000 and had a speeding ticket in NJ. Again, I moved overseas and did not take care of this one either. Now I plan to come back to the USA and wonder if I will be arrested. And what can I do to fix up those two probems. Thanks, Lo |

| Contact the courts involved and find out the total amounts owed. Then send them a certifed check or money order. Be sure to keep your receipts and have them send you a letter of release. If you have a US driver's license check with the DMV and pay the fee to have it reinstated. They will need an original of the releases from each of the courts. |

Thank you for your advice. One more thing: Some of the research I made indicate that if one doesn't show up in court, the next step is that there is an warrant for my arrest. How does one fix that??? and how can I find out? Part of my question that ties with the warrant was: can I re-enter the US without fear of being arrested? |

| If you have a warrant for an FTA for a traffic offense in CA, you might be arrested if they run your name ... BUT, if it's only a local warrant (and it probably is) they won't find it. And I can guarantee that the issuing agency in CA is not going to extradite a traffic offender from some other state just so that they can give you another court date. Though if you drive a car, you're probably gonna lose it. - Carl
