Urgent Question Regarding Charges

Michigan. I am asking this question on behalf of a family friend who is currently incarcerated at the Oakland County Jail in Pontiac, MI. He is currently serving 90 days for violation of probation. He has been given an out date of August 22nd. The problem is that he is being told that there is a hold with no bond for him in Detroit, MI. The only information he has regarding the case is that he is being charged with Aggravated Assault. He has no idea what the charges are in regards to. I have tried to contact the attorney that is handling his case (attorney appointed by the court), but have received no response.
I was told about the hold when I went to post a bond for the defendant, and was instructed that he would not be released, but transported to Detroit, however, he was. He returned to court a few days later, and upon sentencing for 90 days, the judge granted the defendent work release. This priveledge was revoked once he arrived at Oakland County Jail where he was once again informed about the hold. What can be done to resolve this matter? How do I get someone to inform my friend on what will happen at the time of his release on the 22nd of August? Can anyone help me on this case?

A court appointed attorney (or any attorney for that matter) has no obligation to respond to you. He has to advise his client, no one else.

There are plenty of ways to resolve cases... but that's between him and his attorney.

You can't force the issue. His attorney will talk to him in due course. In the case of a court appointed attorney or public defender, most attorney / client conferences take place in the holding cell outside the courtroom, just before his case is called. Most PD's case loads are such that they can't do it any sooner.

You'll both just have to be patient.
