What is the name of your state? Ohio

Officer stops a pick up truck for speeding. He asks for identification from the female driver and the male passenger. The female driver hands him her driver's license. The male passenger states he does not have ID on him. The officer asks for his social security number, which he falsely recites. Officer runs both parties in his cruiser then returns to inform the passenger that the SSN doesn't exist, give it again along with your name and DOB. The passenger again gives a false SSN but his real name and DOB. The passenger comes back with four felony drug warrants out of the Sheriff's Office with a nationwide pick up radius. The officer immediately handcuffs the passenger and places him in his cruiser. The officer returns to the truck and advises the female driver that after he searches the cab of the truck, she is free to leave (he writes a warning for the speed). As she exits the truck with her purse on her shoulder, the officer grabs the purse and tells her that everything in the cab of the pick up that was within reach of the male passenger is subject to search incident to his arrest. Inside her purse the officer finds 5 pills inside a cigarette pack. The female states the pills are prescription pain pills that she got from her mother. The officer lets the female drive away but informs her that once a pharmacist confirms what the pills are she will be charged at a later date if she does not have a script for them.

My question....is the search of her purse a valid search? Thanks

pretty much. If she wants to contest the charges that are apparently soon to be levied, let her attorney argue it but areas within the reach of the arrestee are generally fair game.

So she admitted to the police that she is in possession of another person's prescription medication and it is not being stored in its original container (in a pack of cigs). Does she have any more felonies she wants to confess to?

She needs to get a lawyer and stop talking to the police. See no evidence of a bad search here.
